Project management, cost consultancy and employer's agent were carried out by ikon in respect of the refurbishment of the Villas, providing 18 contemporary houses and apartments set in a period building for private sale as part of the new 'village'. In addition, ikon provided cost consultancy services to manage and control construction costs on the Becketts Gate, Waitlands and Waverley Lodge areas of the scheme, which offered accommodation for both affordable and private occupants.
The brief was to satisfy the varied needs of homebuyers in the area and meet the local authority’s design and development criteria. Working with the local council and community, a scheme was developed which was of the highest standards of design, layout and construction to reflect and enhance the established character
of the area.
The project has been chosen by the office of the Deputy Prime Minister as an example of best practice in developing sustainable communities, with pre-application consultations, good working relationships between all parties and involvement of local community.
