ikon Consultancy was commissioned to provide mixed affordable, key worker, and private dwellings in a four phase delivery consisting of 11 sites, over five years for completion in 2011. The project includes: demolition of the existing flats and shopping centre; the provision of a mixture of key worker, intermediate, and private new houses and flats; a new retail area and community facilities in a central park; and neighbourhood improvments and traffic calming measures.
Ashford Bourough Council set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) called Chrysalis, involving: Nationwide (as the funder), Gleeson Capital Solutions, and Moat (RSL). The project team is made up of: Denne as the enabling works contractor, Gleeson Homes as the developer, and ikon Consultancy, who have been appointed to project manage the delivery and the D&B contract with Denne.
ikon were key in supporting the bid negotiations. The numerous stakeholders made this a challenging role, both during the set up of the PFI structure, and during the build process.
